Behind the Lens
Welcome to my landscape, nature, and wildlife photography blog.
Here you'll find all of the latest images, and commentary by Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography. Read on to find out about where I've been, and what landscape, nature, and wildlife subjects I've been photographing.
Sunset at The Roaches
There was nothing in the weather forecast to suggest there was to be anything epic this evening but I thought I’d go for some side light on Ramshaw Rocks in the Peak District. Unfortunately being popular, and a nice day it was rammed up there. In the end I found myself up around Blake Mere (The Mermaid Pool), and decided to shoot a few panoramas as the sun set.
Astro at Ynys Llanddwyn
Marooned again! Tonight it was back to the tidal island of Ynys Llanddwyn on Ynys Mon to attempt some more astrophotography.
Creswell’s Piece
I’d still got my woodland hat on, and tonight I thought I’d take a look at Creswell’s Piece in Staffordshire to see what I could photograph.
Consall Valley
Woodland landscape photography. Still inspired by the “success” I’d found at Swineholes Wood I decided I stick with exploring local woodlands, and heading out to Consall Valley in Staffordshire.
Swineholes Again
Armed with my new attitude to Swineholes Wood, and buoyed by the fact that I had made some images previously I set off to explore some more.
Swineholes Wood
Photographing Swineholes Wood, Staffordshire. One of the most infuriating places I’ve been to when trying to capture some images. It’s beautiful, chaotic and very, very frustrating.
